Look for the ICF Credential
An ICF credential is currently one of the gold standards in coaching. It signifies that a coach has willingly engaged in rigorous training, mentor coaching, and coaching practice to gain experience, and has committed to running an ethical practice.
To be an ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC), one must complete at least 75 hours of training, 100+ hours of coaching experience, mentorship and pass a rigorous exam. Most ACC coaches have far more than these minimums. ICF coaches also commit to ongoing education and uphold the ICF Code of Ethics.
